Firstly: Welcome to book #1 of our online bookclub; Losers Book Cvlt. You, Weirdo; are now officially a part of the 78 Club

Synopsis:

Quinn Maybrook finds herself caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress-that just may cost her life. Quinn Maybrook and her father have moved to tiny, boring Kettle Springs, to find a fresh start. But what they don't know is that ever since the Baypen Corn Syrup Factory shut down, Kettle Springs has cracked in half. On one side are the adults, who are desperate to make Kettle Springs great again, and on the other are the kids, who want to have fun, make prank videos, and get out of Kettle Springs as quick as they can. Kettle Springs is caught in a battle between old and new, tradition and progress. It's a fight that looks like it will destroy the town. Until Frendo, the Baypen mascot, a creepy clown in a pork-pie hat, goes homicidal and decides that the only way for Kettle Springs to grow back is to cull the rotten crop of kids who live there now.

My Turn:

Listen here, I straight up loved this book.
Hands down the best Slasher I've read in a long time; probably even ever in my opinion.

One of my favourite things about CIAC is that it flowed so nicely the entire way through and not once had me thinking, "When the fuck is this going to end!"

Parts of this book actually had me laughing out loud which is also a super rare thing to make me do. I am CONVINCED that Adam (Author) is a millennial, just based purely off of his writing style. The whole time I was reading I felt like I was being told an insane story by a friend - and I couldn't put it down. The fact that he referred to someone as a cuck is what gave it away for me but also had me in stitches since I definitely was not expecting it.

*Side Note* I googled it, he is in fact 36 at the moment so I was right - look at me go.

Although all of the characters in this book are fictional, we all know someone in our waking lives who is exactly like each and every one of them. I thoroughly enjoyed that he just knew what the reader would want and discarded the frustrating characters in memorable and gruesome ways - don't act like you don't hang in there for characters you hate to finally die, everyone does it.

The only part that had me a little confused was the kiss at the end? It was super random and I had to flick back and re-read the pages before to make sure I hadn't missed anything. I mean I'm not mad, who doesn't like a cute gay moment? But it sort of came out of nowhere? Am I the only person who didn't pick up crush vibes at the party and the escape?!

Let me know what you think:
