WHEN TWO BECOME ONE
Welcome Weirdos!
Let me prefix this post by saying, I am not a Satanist. I am just incredibly fascinated in the Occult. Do I think that the Satanic Bible has the most realistic “commandments” that I’ve ever read about in any preaching? Abso-f**king-toutley I do. A lot of it is based on common sense. But, there’s no hailing anyone but Hekate and her fellow deities for this gal. So now that I have gotten that off my chest. Let’s do this!
This week I’m going to be releasing two blogs (not even sorry)
First I’m going to start with a mini introduction to the Occult Tarot deck and how I keep mine stored.
I like keeping crystals with all of my cards to keep them grounded and protected from any outside interference. When I was first gifted Occult Tarot I always felt a little uneasy and not super confident with the thought of using them and that's why I chose to gift this deck an Onyx Crystal.
Onyx is a stone of protection and it is said that it creates a shield around anyone wearing it -in this instance it's the cards. I guess in my mind it was an extra precaution for myself more than anything. Call it placebo, I don't care. But as of late I have kept feeling super drawn to them and any caution I originally felt toward them has totally dissipated.
If you decide to get your hands on this particular set of cards, it does contain a warning pretty much stating that if you’re not confident with them, don’t use them and that you should probably burn them. But I won’t be diving into summoning anyone…ever. Like never ever - I’ve seen what happens to dumb people in horror movies and that outcome is just not in my future. I’m just using them as a standard deck with beautiful imagery that we get to learn about.
It is no secret that these cards are absolutely stunning! The edges are trimmed with this beautiful like... imagine if liquid gold was red. Anyway, here’s a photo so you can see for yourself.
Orgasmic right? Now, when I get to know a tarot deck I usually have a little ritual I like to follow so that we can gel and have a little get to know you session. I do this so that I can learn how this deck is going to respond to me when I’m doing a reading. There are so many ways that one thing with the same meaning can be interpreted by people, same goes with cards. Tomato, Tahmado, same sh*t different stink, Rainbow Paddle Pop, Caramel Paddle Pop. Same same. #TriggeringMillennials
I usually start off by cleansing them with a smudge stick - if you’re on a budget or just don’t have access to one you can just use some incense. The reason I cleanse them is to give them a bit of a refresher and wake up after being suffocated by shrink wrap, inside of its tiny coffin for God knows how long. I will then meditate with them and envision all of my energy flowing from my body into the cards. I generally imagine a bright light (I know it’s super generic) but it’s just what my mind imagines when I’m metaphorically pouring my soul into something.
I then ask them a few questions that I know the answers to. I recommend doing this a few times, you can pull as many cards as you like. I generally just pull one as a general kind of card, but if more fall out when I’m asking then I read into them too.
There’s no right or wrong to setting up your cards. This method is the most effective way that works for me. Over time I have mixed and matched different practices through my research and this is just what has stuck.
Now that you’ve gotten to know your cards.
Let’s learn about some Demons!... and card meanings.
See you in the next blog
