Shadow & Thorn

 

Amethyst 
What is it: It is a lilac to dark purple gemstone from the Quartz family. 
What does it do: Develops intuition and spiritual awareness. It aids in meditation, calm and tranquility. It also calms headaches.
Who needs it: Anyone who feels themselves going off the rails. It releases a person from stress and strain. It also soothes irritability, balances moon swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety. Amethyst alleviates sadness and grief whilst dissolving negativity.
Fun Fact: The Ancient Romans believed that Amethyst got its lush purple colour when the god Bacchus spilt wine on a clear stone.

 

Black Tourmaline 
What is it: It is a slightly magnetised semi-precious gemstone.
What does it do: Black Tourmaline is a stone of protection. It places an energetic boundary between you and of those around you
Who needs it: Everyone and anyone who needs to repel and protect against negativity. It enhances a persons physical wellbeing by providing an increase in physical vitality, emotional stability and intellectual sharpness. It is also good for promoting self-confidence, diminishing fear, paranoia, attracting inspiration, compassion, tolerance and prosperity. 
Fun Fact: The best place to keep Black Tourmaline is beside your door or in your pockets to keep out those Emotional Vampires.


Bloodstone
What is it: It is an earthy green chalcedony spattered with seriously activating Red Jasper. 
What does it do: It helps you find your inner strength and tap into your courage and vitality.
Who needs it: Anyone who is incredibly overworked. Bloodstone heightens intuition and increases creativity which is perfect for people finding themselves a little stuck in life. It is grounding and protecting. Stimulates dreaming and is a powerful revitaliser. This stone calms and revitalises the mind, dispels confusion and enhances decision making. It can also assist in. adjusting to unaccustomed circumstances, reduces irritability, aggressiveness and impatience.
Fun Fact: In the middle ages some people believed that the red splotches on the surface of the stone was the blood of Christ.


Carnelian
What is it: A cherry red chalcedony.
What does it do: Enhances creativity and sexuality, and exploring past life experience. Aids in digestion and soothes menstrual pain. 
Who needs it: People who are under-stimulated. It restores vitality and motivation while stimulating creativity. It is useful for overcoming abuse of any kind. Sharpens concentration and dispels mental lethargy. It's great for those who need help calming anger, banishing emotional negativity and replacing it with a love in life. It also boosts fertility and stimulates sexuality.
Fun Fact: Romans used it on signet rings (wax wouldn't stick to it!)


Citrine

What is it: A pale gold to smokey brown quartz
What does it do: Invites success and money and raises self esteem. Good for the heart, kidneys liver and muscles.
Who needs it: This stone is a must have for creatives or someone with big dreams. It attracts wealth, prosperity and success. It imparts joy, wonder, delight and enthusiasm. Raises self esteem, stimulates the brain and strengthens the intellect. It promotes motivation, activates creativity and encourages self expression. Releases negative traits, depression, fear and phobias.
Fun Fact: Citrine became more popular during the Romantic Period which was an artistic, literary, and intellectual movement that originated in Europe toward the end of the 18th century.
 
Clear Quartz
What is it: A see-through quartz, among the most abundant minerals on the planet
What does it do: A healing stone. It channels power and amplifies universal energy. This stone can be programmed to whatever it is you require. 
Who needs it: Anyone who needs healing with everything. For those who need it, it absorbs stores, releases and regulates energy. It draws off negative energy of all kinds and neutralises background radiation. Balances and revitalises the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes.
Fun Fact: Clear Quartz known as the "Master Healer". 
 

Fluorite
What is it: Fluorite can range from pale green to deep purple 
What does it do: Useful in decision making and helps with concentration
Who needs it: People who are perpetually distracted. I t absorbs and neutralises negative energy and stress.  An excellent learning aid, Fluorite increases our powers of concentration, self-confidence and helps us in decision-making. It encourages positivity, balances the energies, and improves balance and coordination, both physically and mentally.
Fun Fact: It's good to vibe with when you're feeling all over the place.
 

Hematite
What is it: A metallic charcoal 
What does it do: A stone of protection and grounding, it closes your aura to keep out negative energy.
Who needs it: Anyone stagnating or spun out by something.  Dissolves negativity and prevents you from absorbing the negativity of others. Hematite is strong, supporting timidity, boosting self-esteem and survivability, enhancing willpower and reliability, and imparting confidence. It helps to overcome compulsions and addictions, treating overeating, smoking and other forms of overindulgence. 
Fun Fact: It got its name from the Greek word "Blood" because just like blood, it's full of iron
 

Lapis Lazuli
What is it: A deep blue stone 
What does it do: A stone of focus, it helps amplify thought, aid in meditation and releases from melancholy. Good for sore throats and fevers.
Who needs it: Anyone who's thoughts are not their friend. It is a stone of protection that may be worn to guard against psychic attacks, Lapis Lazuli quickly releases stress, bringing deep peace.  It brings harmony and deep inner self-knowledge. Encourages self-awareness, allows self-expression and reveals inner truth, providing qualities of honesty, compassion and morality to the personality. Stimulates objectivity, clarity and encourages creativity.  Lapis Lazuli assists to confront and speak one’s truth and inspires confidence. It bonds relationships, aiding in expression of feelings and emotions.
Fun Fact: The Egyptians used Lapis for seals, ground it for an eyelid cosmetic and often carved it into vases and figurines. 

 

Moss Agate
What is it: A banded chalcedony which comes in many forms. Moss agate is Blue/Green
What does it do: Invites courage, strength and self-confidence 
Who needs it:  Moss Agate is a stone of new beginnings.  Refreshes the soul and enables you to see beauty in all you behold.  Moss Agate reduces sensitivity to weather and environmental pollutants.  It attracts abundance in wealth and improves self-esteem. Develops strength and the ability to get along with others.  Inspires new ideals after periods of stagnation. Moss Agate promotes self-expression and communication. Balances the emotions, releasing fear and stress.  Encourages trust and hope. It eliminates depression caused by brain imbalances.
Fun Fact Moss Agate neither contains moss nor is technically an agate 
 

Peridot
What is it: Precious Peridot - a chic type of Olivine 
What does it do: Invites energy, positivity and light
Who needs it: Brooders.  It releases and neutralises toxins on all levels.  Alleviates jealousy, resentment, spite, bitterness, irritation, hatred and greed.  Reduces stress, anger and guilt.  Peridot opens our hearts to joy and new relationships.  It enhances confidence and assertion, motivating growth and change.  Sharpens and opens the mind to new levels of awareness.  Banishes lethargy, apathy and exhaustion.  Peridot enables you to take responsibility for your own life.
Fun Fact: Peridot is one of the only crystals that comes in one colour... Green!
 

Rhodonite
What is it: Deep pink and black palette
What does it do: A calming stone that allows you to accept love
Who needs it: Deep sighers - the kind of people who are constantly saying "I hate my job".  Rhodonite is a stone of compassion, an emotional balancer that clears away emotional wounds and scars from the past, and that nurtures love.  It stimulates, clears and activates the heart.  Rhodonite grounds energy, balances yin-yang, and aids in achieving one’s highest potential.  It heals emotional shock and panic.  Rhodonite aids in cases of emotional self-destruction, codependency and abuse.  It encourages unselfish self-love and forgiveness.  Promotes remaining calm in dangerous or upsetting situations.  Builds confidence and alleviates confusion.
Fun Fact: The Incas, who called it Inca Rose, believed that it contained the blood of their former kings and queens that was turned to stone.
 

Roze Quartz
What is it: Love in rock form - it's a clear pink quartz
What does it do: A stone of love, not just romantic, but self love and brotherly love as well.Nurturing and comforting this stone dissipates anger
Who needs it: The overly self-critical. Rose Quartz is the stone of universal love.  It restores trust and harmony in relationships, encouraging unconditional love.  Rose Quartz purifies and opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, friendship, deep inner healing and feelings of peace. Calming and reassuring, it helps to comfort in times of grief. Rose Quartz dispels negativity and protects against environmental pollution, replacing it with loving vibes. It encourages self forgiveness and acceptance invoking self trust and self worth.
Fun Fact: The stone was honoured in Tibetan, Indian and Chinese culture and it continues to be one of the most popular stones for carving in China.
 

Smoky Quartz
What is it: Ranges from almost clear to nearly black
What does it do: A stone of protection, it stimulates your survival instincts. Enhances focus and fertility. 
Who needs it: Space cadets and glass half empty types. In addition to the generic healing properties of Quartz, Smokey Quartz is an excellent grounding stone. It gently neutralises negative vibrations and is detoxifying on all levels, prompting elimination of the digestive system and protecting against radiation and electromagnetic smog. Smokey Quartz disperses fear, lifts depression and negativity.  It brings emotional calmness, relieving stress and anxiety.  Promotes positive thoughts and action, and alleviates suicidal tendencies. Dispels nightmares and manifests your dreams. Smokey Quartz aids concentration and assists in communication difficulties.
Fun Fact: Smoky quartz has been used as gemstones and other ornamental and religious objects for thousands of years. 

 
Sodalite
What is it: Salty, deep blue stone speckled and striated with white calcite inclusions
What does it do: A stone of truth. It will help you speak to your own truth, as well as accept the truth of others no matter. how hard they may be to hear. 
Who needs it: Planners & Producers.  Sodalite brings order and calmness to the mind.  It encourages rational thought, objectivity, truth and intuition, along with verbalisation of feelings.  Sodalite brings emotional balance and calms panic attacks.  It enhances self-esteem, self-acceptance and self-trust.  
Fun Fact: This stone is also known by some as "poor man's Lapis"
  

Tiger's Eye
What is it: A golden brown quartz displaying. a light-reflecting optical phenomenon known as chatoyance 
What does it do: A stone of stability, it enhances personal power and integrity.  
Who needs it: Over-thinkers and mood-swingers. A stone of protection, Tiger Eye may also bring good luck to the wearer. It has the power to focus the mind, promoting mental clarity, assisting us to resolve problems objectively and unclouded by emotions. Particularly useful for healing psychosomatic illnesses, dispelling fear and anxiety. Useful for recognising one’s own needs in relation to the needs of others. Balancing yin-yang and energising the emotional body, Tiger Eye stabilises mood swings, imbues us with willpower, purpose, courage and self-confidence, and releases tension.
Fun Fact: Roman soldiers wore tiger's-eye for protection in battle. Tiger Eye was thought to be all seeing due to its appearance.
 

Turquoise
What is it: Brilliant blue-green
What does it do: A stone of healing, it guards against disease and environmental pollutants.  
Who needs it: Anyone who's voice has gone AWOL. It dispels negative energy and can be worn to protect against outside influences or pollutants in the atmosphere. Turquoise balances and aligns all the chakras, stabilising mood swings and instilling inner calm. It is excellent for depression and exhaustion, it also has the power to prevent panic attacks. Turquoise promotes self-realisation and assists creative problem solving. It is a symbol of friendship, and stimulates romantic love.
Fun Fact: Turquoise is the only gemstone to have an official colour named after it
 

Yellow Aventurine
What is it: Ranges from yellow to translucent opaque
What does it do: A stone of opportunity
